1913
Partners August Wiedenbach and R. Baker lay the foundation for building a successful corporation, Wiedenbach-Baker.
1915
Baker leaves Wiedenbach-Baker. August Wiedenbach hires his son-in-law, Nelson Brown, who later becomes a partner, forming Wiedenbach-Brown Co., Inc. (WB)
1922
Goodman Light Supply Company is established by Gustave Soloman in Washington, DC.
1926
WB becomes the largest single-house distributor of GE bulbs.
1928
Monarch Electric opens in Newark, NJ.
1930
Hampden Electric Supply is established
1940
MW Zimmerman Electric Supply is established.
1940
Yale Electric Supply is started in Lebanon PA.
1940
Goodman Electric becomes Maurice Electric having been taken over by Maurice Abraham upon Gustave Soloman’s passing.
1952
Abe Brand and three partners open the first Standard Electric location in Waltham, MA.
1956
Electrical Wholesalers established by Hymen Namerow.
1960
The first National Account in lighting was offered by WB in the 1960s.
1972
Standard Electric acquires current Waltham location. Investment included development of Commercial Lighting and Switchgear departments to serve electrical contractor and construction markets.
1973
Lade Electric Supply is founded by Jack Lade.
1981
Hampden Electric Supply and MW Zimmerman Electric Supply merge to form HZ Electric.
1985
Standard Electric’s corporate headquarters moved to Wilmington, MA.
1990
Duplex Electric is started on the North Shore of Long Island.
1991
Standard Electric makes its first acquisition: Kearns Electric in Boston, MA.
1993
Standard Electric develops its National Accounts division.
1994
Danlar Lighting and Distribution is founded by Sonya Cook.
1995
Yale Electric Supply acquires United Electric in Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg and Chambersburg PA. Yale also acquires Fluorescent Electric Supply in Harrisburg, PA.
1996
Standard Electric acquires ADL Electric Supply in Gloucester, MA
1996
Standard Electric acquires ADL Electric Supply in Gloucester, MA
1998
Standard Electric launches its website: www.StandardElectric.com.

Standard Electric celebrates 50 years!

Yale Electric acquires AA Electric Supply in Lancaster PA.
2002
WB opens an additional distribution center on the West Coast along with several offices.

Standard Electric acquires Lowell Electric.
2003
Yale Electric opens a new branch in West Chester, PA
2004
WB starts its Commercial Lighting Division.
2005
Yale Electric acquires Progressive Electric Supply in Wyomissing, PA.
2006
Electrical Wholesalers (EW) joins USESI.
2006
EW adds 110,000 sq. ft. Distribution Center in Stoughton, MA.

EW expands into RI, MA and DC.

Monarch Electric expands in NJ and into NY and joins USESI.

Weidenbach-Brown joins USESI.

Duplex Electric joins USESI.
2007
USESI acquires and merges Lade Electrical Supply and Danlar Lighting and Distribution, forming Lade-Danlar.

Yale Electric Supply acquires Northwest Electric Supply in Willow Grove, PA.
2008
EW adds a 132,000 sq. ft. Distribution Center in Middletown, CT.
2008
EW opens branches in Fairfax, VA, Warrenton, VA and Rockville, MD.
2008
EW of DC Metro acquires Maurice Electric, headquartered in Washington, DC.

Standard Electric joins USESI.
2009
EW’s Stoughton, MA Distribution Center combines with Standard Electric’s Distribution Center and expands the warehouse to 190,000 sq ft.
2010
Maurice Electric opens a new branch in Winchester, VA.
2010
Yale Electric Supply acquires Garden State Lighting in Cherry Hill, NJ.
2011
Maurice Electric opens a new 125,000 sq. ft. Distribution Center in Landover, MD, along with new branches in both Joppa and Timmonium, MD.
2011
Yale Electric Supply is acquired by CED, a sister company to USESI.
2012
HZ Electric acquires Warren Electric In Queensbury, NY.
2012
Standard Electric opens a new branch in Medford, MA.
2013
EW moves to new headquarters in Middletown, CT.

EW-NE opens new branch in Brockton, MA.

Yale Electric Supply joins USESI.

Lade-Danlar opens a new branch in Dallas, GA.

Warren Electric changes its name to HZ Electric Supply.
